Pin Slip

I went in for my 7 week followup and learned that my left pin has moved upwards.  It is not even holding the wire that is there.
So- I am waiting two more weeks.  If it has slipped more, then we will have to do surgery to either take out the hardware- OR- tighten it back up.   I'm really struggling with this because I really do not want surgery again.  I'm somewhat coming back to normal-  I'm not ready for a relapse.

The KneeCap and a Kitchen

It started out on a crazy Friday afternoon.     Gracie was home from school, Jared and Ethan were in the house doing something.    Gracie and I decided to run to the grocery store to get a few things for lunch    Little Miss G was not a happy camper.  I wouldn't buy her bubble gum.   I'm not a fan of kids and gum.  It gets everywhere   So I said No.  The check out lady even offered her two smarties and she threw them at me.   Gracie was being a little stinker.
I got her loaded into the van and we were headed home.   She opened the van door as I was driving and that was the last straw with me.   I was DONE.   So, we got home- I parked the van, grabbed the groceries and went to get Gracie out of the van and she wouldn't get out.   She knew she'd be in trouble.   Well.   I finally got her to come out and I'm pulling her as she's pulling against me with one hand and then I've got the groceries in the other hand.    I tripped on Gracie's feet (somehow) and things started going in slow motion.  I was falling.   I tried to stand, I was still falling, but I was struggling to get my balance.      I landed.   Heard the bag of chips pop--- Great... I had crushed my tortilla chips that I was so excited for.   And then I felt the pain in my knee.

I yelled to Gracie--- GO GET DAD!   And then I started bawling.   I hurt so bad.
Jared came out and I couldn't stand up.  I put my arms around Jared's neck and that's how he got me standing.   Oh my Gosh.  The pain in my knee was intense.   I couldn't move it.
So, Jared lifted me by my bum- my arms still around his neck and he carried me into our bedroom and laid me on the bed.   He elevated my knee---put ice on it and gave me Tylenol, ibuprofen and gave me a priesthood blessing.

A few hours later, my knee wasn't getting any better.  Jared decided to text his Orthopedic Surgeon friends and see what we should do.   They all said, get to the ER.

So off we went.   It took me 45 minutes to figure out how to get into the van.   It then took 6 minutes to drive to the hospital- and then another 30 minutes, trying to get me out of the van.   I couldn't do anything to my knee.   Not lift it, not move it, NOTHING.

When they wanted to X-Ray me- I said-- you're gonna have to do it with me sitting right here.  I can not move.      So they did.      Here's what came back from my X-Ray.

So- like the picture says--- my knee cap should look like the drawing.   But obviously it was snapped in two.    I had to wait until Monday morning for surgery. So back into the van I went..... oh the pain.   At least I now had this lovely brace to support my leg.

This is how I spent a lot of time.... sitting with my leg elevated.   My good friend, Melanie, brought me her leg ice machine.  So I had ice on my knee a lot.

5:50 in the morning we reported for surgery at McKay Dee Hospital.   I don't remember much.   But- 22 Staples later..... My knee was fixed and I was sent home.   It needs to be completely straight at all times.  No bending.  A little weight on it is okay- but completely straight.

Dear Jared got a little bored playing Nurse Maid... so decided to remodel the kitchen.  PERFECT TIMING, Babe!

First he painted the cabinets white....... Then onto the flooring.....  We are doing slate.

My parents took the kids for Thanksgiving week so Jared did work while I sat around.   I did get to cross one of my bucket items off the list and on Black Friday- Jared and I went to Walmart and I got to drive one of those little Jazzy's around!    YIPPEE!   Just so you know--- they really are a pain.   People didn't care if I was in a Jazzy or not... they were just plain rude!

Check out this Moo-Moo!    I needed something easy to throw on but easy to access my knee.... and my Mom bought me the cutest Moo-Moo ever!

2 weeks later... follow up appointment.

Here's my 2 week later follow up X Ray.   It's looking good.  Lining up how it should....  Awesome hardware, huh!   Staples came out.... and Dr. Bachison said to keep my knee straight for 2 more days.  Then I can start bending it and my own will.   If I am standing or moving around-- I must have my brace on.  I dont need my crutches but MUST have the brace on.  If I was to take my brace off- I must use my crutches and be non weight bearing on my knee.    We gotta get it healed.    Follow up in two weeks....

The Morning Report.... evening edition

This is the morning report
Gives you the long and the short
Every grunt, roar, and snort
Not a tale I distort
On the morning report
For some reason, this song is on my head today- and I decided I better blog about my day today. So here it is-- the Morning Report- evening edition. Thanks Zazu.
5am I awoke to Jared's alarm going off. Jared and the kids from the kids choirs would be on the radio this morning- and Jared had to pick them up at 6am at the Club in Roy.
530am Jared wakes up Logan who for some reason is in bed with me snuggled really close. I am very glad Jared takes Logan with him. I need my space!!
6am With a slam of the door, Jared and Logan are gone to Salt Lake for the Morning Show on 101.5 The Eagle with Keith Stubbs. The Boys and Girls Clubs are promoting their show on Saturday night.
615 am Gracie wakes up thanks to the lovely dog barking. I go downstairs and get her- yes she sleeps downstairs and does very well--- let out the dog, and get Gracie in my bed. It's just too dang early to be up.
620am Of course, the dog wants to come back in. Great. Nice timing.
720am My alarm goes off to wake up Abby and get her ready for school. Gracie is up and ready to play by now. I go downstairs and Abby is laying in her bed wide awake. Hi Mom she says- Wow. That never happens. Gracie and Abby play on the bed for a little bit.
745am Abby brings Gracie upstairs and I send Abby back down to get dressed. I jump in the shower.
8am I think Abby is dressed and playing with Gracie-- Abby is playing with Gracie but still in her pj's. GRRRR. Then Abby says- I want to shower Mom. Ok- in the shower, but make it quick.
810am Abby takes her time. I am such a happy mom. Not!!
812am I turn off the water, hand Abby a towel and she is out of the shower. We head downstairs and I notice that someone has WET sheets. Grrrr. Abby did you wear a pullup? (bless her heart, she still has a tendancy to wet the bed, so I make her wear a pullup every night. ) NO- I wanted to try underwear Mom!! Ok- rip off the sheets, put them in the wash. Come on, hurry!
820am Back up stairs, Abby is dressed, bed stripped and put in washer. Doing Abby's hair and then off to get some breakfast.
830am Classmate and neighbor, Hunter's Mom, Kim- calls and asks if I can take Hunter to school. Not a problem- on my way that way so no worries. Be there in 5-10 minutes.
840am I am in the van, Gracie is buckled and I have no idea where Abby is. I honk the horn and then she comes out. Mom, honk the horn from now on when you want me to come out okay? That's fun. FUN??? I'm waiting out in the freezing van that hasn't warmed up yet and you think it's fun?? I love kids!!
842am Pick up Hunter, Drop kids off at school... reminding them I will pick them both up after school. I am tooo nice!!
850am Head to the bank to deposit a check right at 9am- Jared calls says he is done and to pick him up at the Ogden Club where he is dropping of the BGC Van.
910am Pick up Jared- Go to other bank because I didnt have time to go to the one I needed too- and then ran home pick up shopping list and headed to Walmart. We needed things for Jared's show tomorrow.
1025am Make it home. I run in, Flat Iron my hair, throw on some makeup and run back out the door to go to my Baby Dr Appointment.
1045 Waiting in Dr Office. My favorite.
1115am My name is called- I go in the back- do my weight thing, the bathroom thing and the bloodpressure thing and then off to wait for the dr to come in.
1120am She's quick and I have an ultrasound... That ultrasound machine isnt working very well- so we move rooms. Everything looks great. Baby is 15 weeks and doesn't want to show between it's legs-
1135 Out the door, appointment scheduled for next year... call Jared-I'm coming home. Be ready to go to Salt Lake. Talk to Mom- tell her how I'm doing and how Baby Allen is doing.
1145 In the house- carry Gracie to the Van- Logan and Jared come out- and we are off to Salt Lake to pick up the CD's that the BGC's have made.
145pm Home. Check emails, move around the laundry, do some cleaning and then off again
3pm Head to UPS Store to mail CD's for T Minus 5. The line was out the door- good thing I know one of the workers (thanks Marcus) and handed him my CD's- said put it on my account and I was out of there!!!
305pm Went to the gas station and got gas in the van
310pm Went to Abby's school to pick up Abby and Hunter. Had a few minutes to close my eyes and breathe. ME TIME!!
330pm Abby and Hunter come out of the school, pick them up, get them in the Van, drop Hunter off and then Abby and I headed to Macey's to get groceries.
415pm Walked out of Grocery store... went to put a whole gallon of Chocolate Milk in the van and it dropped and exploded on the ground. I was so embarressed. I quickly put the other stuff in, shut the door, but the cart away and slid into my seat and sunk down when a lady came by just staring.
425pm Laughed all the way home- got Frozen Lasagna in the oven...
500pm Have nephew spending the night- better make sure all is clean downstairs-- need to do some work.
520pm Dinner is about done and Jared announces that he needed to leave in 10 minutes with the kids to go to Club Choir show at the amphitheater.
545pm I ate dinner all by myself. And started typing this blog. Fed Gracie, made a bottle for her, laid down with her for a minute so she'd fall asleep- too onery.
653pm I am pooped. Gonna lay down and watch some Christmas shows on TV and then head to bed.
WOW. That's my day. How was yours?

12:01 am Showing of Twilight!

I was there, in the craziness of thousands of women and more men than I expected- at the Gateway in SLC, UT to watch TWILIGHT. I was not dissappointed. It was awesome. Yes- it was not exactly the same as the book- but how in the world do you cram 800 pages into a 2 hour movie? I liked it a lot. There was some cheesey parts. But- hey- I thought it was good. It held my interest and I didnt fall asleep once! (Although I am paying for it today... ) I say go see it. It's good.
I think part of the reason I loved it too, was the company I went with. There was a group of 7 of us (Nicki, Camille, Megan, Jen, Meghan, Christianne and myself) that went down and it was so fun. We went to eat at Applebee's before hand and then made it to the movie- and stood in a HUGE line for popcorn and a drink. WOW. It was so fun!
I will post pictures from the event- or link you to Nicki's blog. She was the only smart one who took a camera!

First Doctor Visit

Today was my first doctor visit. I went in around 9:15am and got in with the doctor about 9:30am. She was laughing and couldn't believe I was in there again. I know- it's still a shocker to me. She went to do an ultrasound and if you are less than 12 weeks in that office- they do the ultrasound the V way. (I refuse to say the V word.) :) They didnt see anything. Nothing. No fetus, no heartbeat, nothing. I didnt know what to do or think- They sent me to the hospital to get another blood test done. And after I did that I was to go back to the Dr's office. She was pretty sure that I had an etopic pregnancy meaning I would need surgery today.
Well- I went and did the blood test, and then went back to the doctor's office and sat for an hour waiting for the test to come back. When it finally came back- it said I was for sure pregnant. So my doctor did another V ultrasound to check again- while the nurses in the office called the hospital's big ultrasound department to have me go there to check and make sure it was an etopic. Once again, she saw nothing. Absolutely nothing. We began talking about my options and I said- how about we check by doing an ultrasound on my stomach. Just to make sure. She said, we can do that but I am almost 100% sure we will see nothing. So she did it on my stomach and sure enough- THERE was the the little babe! Way up by my ribs. I didnt have to go get another ultrasound, I didnt' have to have surgery- (on Halloween? no way!) and all is well. Although I am not as far along as I thought I was- which always seems to be the case with me. They will really watch me this time- because of all my issues with Gracie. All will be well. I called Jared periodically- just so he knew what was going on and Later, Jared told me that he and Logan knelt and prayed that all would be well with me and the baby. I seriously felt the peace and love from our Heavenly Father that I knew whatever happened would be for the best.
Thank Heavens for Answered Prayers!!

St. George Marathon

Tomorrow morning bright and early is the St. George Marathon in St. George. The marathon is something that my family has been involved with for over 20 years! My dad has driven the pace vehicle---- which means he leads the lead runner down the 26.2 mile course. I have worked at an Aid Station handing out water to the runners for several years when I was in YW's. Then I helped catch people at the end of the race..... and have ridden with my Dad a few times too. The marathon is such a big deal in our family--- We are going down. Of course it's for General Conference too-- but the Marathon just happens to be the same weekend! Yippee for me! I'll take pictures and post them later.!

Quirky?

I was tagged by Megan- and I have to list some quirky things about me..... here goes.

The Rules are as follows: - Link the Person who Tagged you.- Mention rules on your blog.- Tell about 6 quirks of yours.- Tag 6 fellow bloggers to do the same.- Leave a comment to let them know.

#1 I have to have my sheets tucked in at night- it drives me crazy not to have them tucked in. Jared likes to have his side not tucked in. As a nightly ritual, I make sure my side is tucked in nice and neat.

#2 I hate being late. It doesn't matter what the event, social, or whatever.... I do not like being late! It is one of those things that drives me crazy... Yep- I guess I am quirky.

#3 I don't like to listen to music. Yep- you heard it right. I listen to music A LOT as you can imagine with a husband who LOVES music and is teaching my kids to love music--- BUT- I like to listen to Talk tapes, talk radio or sometimes.... I just like it quiet.

#4 I have to make sure all closets, doors or anything like that are shut at night. You see, I get easily freaked out- and when I was little I watched that horrible movie E.T. and ever since then I have nightmares that E.T. gets into my closet and surprises me in the mornings. SO- I have to shut all the closets and doors before I go to bed.

#5 I can't fall asleep at night unless I say- I love you Jared. It's just one of those things.

#6 I don't like my feet to sweat. You'll usually see me in sandals. :)

I have many more quirks- but I am hungry and I need to go make some dinner..... Oh- and I tag.... Chantel F, Chantel M, Alayna, Jana, Nicki and Laura!!! (oh yeah- Laura-- time to have a blog--you have a baby now!!)

Memories.....

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot...anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty cool (and funny) to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. :)

Done!

I finished the book. Have you read it? What did you think?

Down Memory Lane.....

When I was little, my Mom's side of the family would have our family reunions in a small little town in the mountains called Midway, UT. We rented a cabin and would spend hours and hours playing with cousins, making up little dances, doing skits with our families and having a good time. I remember loving to go to Midway. It was a haven a place that I always remembered as a small town that was fun to visit. Now- Fast forward a lot of years. Here I sit in Midway UT in a resort called the Zermatt. This place is huge and has conference centers and pools and tennis courts and lots to see and do. I'm here as a guest. I'm here because a company booked my husband and his group to sing at their corporate event. I'm here with my 3 kids and they are here to watch the Disney Channel and Toon network. (something that we dont have at our house.) Being in Midway brings back floods of memories of my childhood, of families of times together being young. It reminds me of the importance of families and how it is important to have a good relationship with my spouse. It reminds me that I love the mountains and I love to spend time with my family in the beauty of this great land.

Also, while being here and going on a small walk to the ice machine with Logan, I ran into a former co-worker. That brought back floods of memories of working at Venturi Carpet Cleaning. I got the job because a dear sweet cousin knew I was looking for a job and she was working for the same company. She was in the corporate office and I was at one of the "bases". The guy who hired me was in love with my cousin and I think he would have hired me no matter what just for this cousin. I loved working in an office and doing my own thing there. I was the only girl and I liked that because I didnt have to worry about girls. I had roommates and that was enough for me. :) My boss was promoted to the corporate office and I got a new boss and with that came more responsibilites. I remember working lots of hours. My sweet cousin would bring me lunch and we would eat Beto's on the floor of the office. (not sure why we chose the floor... but we did.) So many memories of working at the carpet cleaning business. But the guy I ran into today was at the corporate office and he was in charge of the Call Center. We got to know each other as he would have some of his people call me to practice and I tried to help him figure out what info they needed to capture when making the calls. Thinking about Venturi brings a ton of names to mind too- Alan, Dan, Bo, Kevin, Darrell, Karen, Darlene, what's his name that took care of the trucks and was really greasy and slimy and goofy but the nicest guy- and so many faces that I can't even start to name them.

Wow. Sorry to take you on a trip down Memory Lane but that is how my morning is going so far.... Full of memories.

Thanks Jared!

Our minivan needed a little work in Pocatello this weekend and Jared's brother, Bob asked him to sing in a ward that Bob was speaking at. Jared decided to take Abby and Logan with him to Pocatello so I could have some R&R!
I am so grateful! I have read books, cleaned my kitchen, watched Chick Flicks, done laundry, scrubbed my floors and had "me" time since Saturday at 10am. It has been absolutely wonderful. Of course, I kept Gracie with me but she sleeps a lot so it was perfect.
Thanks Jared for giving me the break. I really need it. I love ya!
