Ever since we decided to have Logan's baptism on June 23rd, my parents and I have been planning a trip. I spent months planning out different ways to go and different options/routes/hotels- etc.
Well the time was finally here ----and they flew up here on a Wednesday early afternoon.
We hung out, went to eat at Sanfords and then headed home. About 8pm- Grandpa got an idea and said- let's head to Chimney Rock, NEBRASKA TONIGHT!!!
This was not in the plan! But- we went with it. By 830pm we were all loaded in the rented surburban. As we were going, Jared was the navigator- and he began calling for a motel for us. First he called Scottsbluff- nothing. He called four other places and all the rooms were full because they had just had a major HAIL storm. Finally, Jared found a place in Alliance, NE with 2 rooms However the power was out. We took it though. We needed some place to stay!!
Here is the cute little place we stayed. The power came on exactly when we walked into the room at 12:05am. It was perfect and we all crashed!
Here we are- ready for adventures on Thursday June 21, 2012.
We have heard about Car Henge forever... and finally decided to see where it was. Little did we know it was only 2 miles from Alliance! We were in luck!
It is real cars that are in the exact shape that Stone Henge is. (Stone Henge is in England)
After that we headed to find the famous "CHIMNEY ROCK"
Pioneers would look for Chimney Rock as they were headed west. It is in the middle of nowhere and there is nothing around... but this lovely rock.
We stopped in Scottsbluff Nebraska for gas and treats and were on the road again!
Crossing State Lines!
South Dakota!!
Cam told us to go through Custer State Park. We did and saw so many buffalo! Look how close they are to the suburban! Crazy.
Wild Donkeys
Prairie Dogs are everywhere!
We went through Rapid City, South Dakota and headed East to Wall. We have seen Wall Drug signs everywhere and finally decided to check it out. We stayed in these CABINS. They were so awesome!
Then we went to the famous WALL DRUG. It really really is a drugstore. But has turned into a tourist trap. It was fun. And we can now say we've been to Wall Drug.
